Balers
The Phoenix Compact Hydraulic Baler Press Range
Our balers convert cardboard, paper and packaging material into neat, dense space-saving bales. The resulting compacted material will be smaller and easier to handle and less costly to transport than loose waste material.
The cost of disposing of waste is increasing steadily year on year. Not only are landfill sites filling up, but the government proposes to raise Landfill Tax to the high levels seen in the rest of western Europe. It is becoming more and more practicable for companies to segregate waste, thereby reducing the weight of the remaining waste that is sent to landfill.
Other benefits:
SIGNIFICANT COST REDUCTIONS
Saving of space
Cleaner, tidier system
More environmental solution

Currently cardboard and plastic is sought after material. Baling these types of waste is therefore cost-effective if you have large quantities.
Mill-sized Balers
If you have large quantities of cardboard and to make cardboard baling as viable as possible it is wise to opt for a mill-sized baler. This baler produces the bale size most sought-after by paper re-processors and therefore produces bales which command a higher price. Currently this price is £25.00 per tonne collected from your site (the collection vehicle would have an onboard forklift to enable easy collection).
We are often able to broker the cardboard for mill-sized bales which is normally based on us collecting 40 bales per visit. Each three months we would raise a statement indicating the tonneage collected. Your company would then raise an invoice to us for the due amount. The price for cardboard is currently quite low. It is expected to rise rather than fall further.
Phoenix supplies three mill-sized vertical balers; the Compact 450, 550 and 650

Other solutions for waste volume reduction:
Consumables
Baling twine & steel baling wire are always in stock as are plastic rotary compactor sacks.
Mill-sized bales must be baled with four wire ties. Baling wire costs approximately £60 per 25kg pack, the exact price dependent on the quantity ordered. A 25kg pack will be enough for approximately 19 bales.

Automatic Horizontal Balers
When volumes of waste are very high (say 5 tonnes per week or more) it might be worth considering a semi-automatic or fully automatic baling system.
- For medium to large volumes
- Continuous loading
- Automatic tying
- Automatic ejection
- Capable of up to 30 tonnes per hour (depending on model)
